AGWPE and Firewalls
Most computer users now have either a firewall program
-- such as
Windows' Firewall or ZoneAlarm - and/or a firewall within their network router. These
may restrict TCP/IP access to and from AGWPE and thus block other
programs trying to use AGWPE.
If you have problems with a program connecting to AGWPE, test the
firewall by temporarily turning it off. If your application program can
now connect to AGWPE, then when you restart the firewall you will need
to configure the firewall to permit AGWPE and your application to talk
to one another. Please consult your firewall program's HELP for information
about how to do this.
The important TCP ports for AGWPE are:
- 8000 = the default port for
connecting applications to AGWPE
- 80 = if you want to try
remote browser control of AGWPE
Of course, if you change the default port in AGWPE
to something other than 8000, you may need to change your firewall
settings, too.
